We did it!! Triathlon success!

What an amazing day. The sun was shining from our start at 7am all the way through to the fun run at 11am. Over 45 Triathletes took part, competing against themselves for their personal targets to achieve 1.25km swim, 50km bike ride and 5 mile run……WOW.

After a 13km cycle the athletes got ready to go to the pool to complete their 1.25km swim. Thank you to Hatfield Pool for supporting the event and giving us 2 lanes.

Swimmers ready!

1.25km swim later and it was time to get out of the pool and back on the bike to complete the 50km ride….with a lot of hills!

With everyone back at the JC it was off the bikes and onto the run – each triathlete now pushing themselves to complete 4 laps and 8km. They were joined by some runner entries – such a great spur for them all.

Crowds of people came along to support the triathletes and then 100 (or more) kids and families took part in the 8km fun run at The John Clements field in Codicote from 11am. It was such an amazing day.

That’s a wrap!!

Thank you to Vikki Francis for dreaming up this idea; Vern for his support on the day; Andy, Tim, Ian, Frankie, Emma, Jackie, Jess, William, Oliver, Lewis, Toff & Jo for marshalling and set up; Jo & Rob for the registrations; Angela, Di, Ian, Matt, Julia & Lesley for the cake stall, Alannah & Helen for the photography…..and the whole village for turning up!

The funding is still coming in so a total will be announced soon. If you haven’t already sponsored this great event please do: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/triathlonforwilliam
